First Place: Suzanne Childress and Michael Jensen from PSRC submitted a web-based application called "CTPP Explorer" that maps CTPP commute mode data for the Puget Sound region. What really impressed the judges was that they also developed an R package that makes it simple to pull CTPP data from the new API. Second Place: Steve Hossack and Mark Jackman from the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) developed an ArcGIS-based web application using a geoprocessing script that allows the user to select a single CTPP TAZ as a travel origin and visualize the amount of commute flow from that origin to all destination TAZs on the map. Third Place: Zihao Jin from CTPS developed a flexible data visualization tool using Python that can be applied to make comparisons by pulling CTPP records for multiple geographical areas. You can contact them at zjin@ctps.org for more information.

All of these folks did a fantastic job and contributed valuable feedback that will help AASHTO and their software development contractor, Macrosys, make the new API even better when it is officially released.
