Here is the challenge! I do not know how to do IPF, but I know that many of you out there can do it! Attached are: ACS B08101 ; ACS B08006 for Maricopa County Arizona. You can ignore the MOE cells for this IPF challenge. Also attached is a 3-way tabulation using IPUMS for Maricopa County AZ. All are using 2009 ACS. You will note that carpool is not broken out, as the question is really in 2 parts (what mode, and then how many people), so this table could be re-done by creating a carpool variable, if you wanted. When presented and discussed on a listserve then many more people perhaps those who might never consider this as an option may now have a solution to the very same problem or may move on to adapt the method to other analysis areas. [CTPP] DataFerrett app by Census

Has anyone had success using this web based tool from Census? We are using IE v 8 with popup-blocker turned off . Still the application is not loading. Here's the mail-out from Census: The U.S Census Bureau announces the release of a new tool for accessing the 2005-2009 ACS 5-Year Summary File. [CTPP] FactFinder 2

I must admit that every time I sit down and try to bolster my skills with the new FactFinder I find myself easily getting distracted and never getting anything accomplished. However, someday I hope to make it through all the tutorials and become as proficient with the new FactFinder as I am with the legacy version. Although it is not quite FactFinder, some colleagues turned me on to an interactive map done by the NY Times where you can begin to pull numbers from the 2010 Census. In less than 3 minutes and without going through any tutorials I was able to view the tract data for my home tract. [CTPP] TAZ User Guide

If you will be creating your Census TAZs and/or TADs attached is the User Guide. It was just released by the Census Bureau and very soon folks will be notified directly by the Bureau that their TAZ materials are available. I would recommend that you take a look at the User Guide before hand to familiarize yourself with the software and most of all IF YOU HAVE TO GET SPECIAL RIGHTS TO LOAD SOFTWARE OF YOUR COMPUTER YOU BEGIN NOW TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO OBTAIN ALL APPROVALS. RE: [CTPP] RE: how to use Census Redistricting Summary Files in Access

We just got Michigan today, and I'm really confused. I downloaded the files from the web site, and I think I understand the 3 different files OK. If I could get them into FoxPro (which I use instead of Access) I'd be fine getting them merged. My problem is that WinZip (version 15.0) won't allow me to rename the .pl to .txt. Tells me that it's a read only file. I can't do anything with mi2010geo.pl -- can't read it in any software. Help! (And why does the bureau do this to us???)
