Here is a link to the newest issue of the CTPP Status Report:
http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/census_issues/ctpp/status_report/sr0514.cfm
Please read the article about the "ACS Content Review." The 4 items that the Census has listed as the topics of greatest concern are:
1. Plumbing (running water, toilet, bath, sink)
2. Income
3. Journey to Work, especially Departure time to Work
4. Disabilities
As of today, the Census Bureau expects the website for public feedback to be opened in June 2014.

Today the Census Bureau released a new Brief on non-motorized travel, written by our friend Brian McKenzie.
http://www.census.gov/prod/2014pubs/acs-25.pdf?eml=gd&utm_medium=email&utm_…
Although these FHWA and AASHTO produced Profiles use older ACS data, they include more geographic choices than reflected in the new Census Brief:
http://download.ctpp.transportation.org/profiles_2012/transport_profiles.ht…
We are now working on an updated set of profile sheets using more current ACS data.
If you need more detailed information on travel time by means of transportation to work, please use
Residence-based table: B101217 from the 2006-2010 CTPP
Workplace-based table: B202213 from the 2006-2010 CTPP
For technical assistance with the CTPP data access software, please contact Ms. Liang Long at liang.long(a)dot.gov<mailto:liang.long(a)dot.gov> 301-347-9141
And, if you missed Brian's Census Brief from last year on Long Commutes, here is the link:

Subject: [CTPP] Accessing the Census Transportation Planning Products Data (a webinar)
Federal Highway and AASHTO through the Census Transportation Planning Products (CTPP) program are offering two separate webinars for those who are interested to learn how to use the “new” CTPP access software system to pull data from the 2006-2010 CTPP data product. The webinars will be the same so please do not sign up for both. One will be offered Friday, June 6, 2014 and the other Thursday, June 26, 2014. Both will run from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Eastern time. To get the most out of the webinar, attendees should visit the CTPP E-Learning modules at http://ctpp.training.transportation.org/ and familiarize themselves with the ACS and the CTPP. This is a prerequisite.
In this webinar attendees will learn how to access the ACS Census Data tabulated under the CTPP program. The CTPP is a 5-year tabulation of ACS data (2006-2010) that is specially designed for transportation planning. Attendees will learn the structure of the data, how to extract selected tables and be exposed to functionality of the software designed to handle the data. Most importantly, attendees will learn where to get the data. Registration is mandatory.
To register for the Friday, June 6, 2014 webinar go to
http://www.nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/resources/webconference/web_conf_learner_reg.as…
To register for the Thursday, June 26 2014 webinar go to
http://www.nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/resources/webconference/web_conf_learner_reg.as…
Do not register for both. Space is limited and the webinar sponsors have to pay for those who register and do not show up.

Subject: [CTPP] ACS Content review, Journey to Work questions at risk
Hi All,
The Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) Office is performing content review for ACS questions. The Journey to Work questions are being looked at critically, with special threat to the time departing for work question.
At this time, it would be very helpful if you or your staff could provide Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) (who are responsible for the DOT defense of the questions) any support in the form of how ACS data are used to fulfill mandates, especially relating the Census ACS "time of departure for work" question to MAP-21, NEPA and other mandates.
Census has given DOT less than two weeks to gather and report this information, so time is of the essence.
Please respond to me ASAP and I will get your responses to BTS.
Thanks,
Penelope Z. Weinberger
