BTS Webinar Behind the Numbers: Exploring Transportation Statistics - Bike Statistics
1:30pm ET on Tuesday, April 25
National Bike Month is just around the corner! Ever wonder how much cycling is going on? We wonder as well! In this webinar we're going to be highlighting national and local efforts to count cyclists. We will also explore how bike-share expands modal choice and extends the existing transportation system by providing access to destinations off existing public transportation routes. Join presenters from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Federal Highway Administration, and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and explore the role data plays in monitoring and observing key trends in bicycle transportation. Presentations will cover non-motorized count extensions to the Traffic Monitoring Guide (TMG) and the Traffic Monitoring Analysis System (TMAS), the MPO Bike/Ped Count Technology Pilot Project as well as highlights from the Intermodal Passenger Connectivity Database (IPCD).

Conference”/*/./ The conference is organized by The Transportation
Research Board, and the American Association of State Highway and
Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Census Transportation Planning
Products (CTPP) program and will take place in Kansas City, MO on
November 14-16, 2017.
The conference will focus on the use of census data for transportation
applications by exploring the results of current research, sharing
experiences of practitioners who are using census data, and defining
potential strategies for practical improvements in data use for current
and emerging data needs.

Abstracts, *no more than 400 words*, are due by COB on *May 25,
2017*.There is an electronic submittal form at
https://s.zoomerang.com/r/Censustrans. If selected, final enhanced
abstracts for publication in the conference proceedings will be due by
October 15, 2017.
Enhanced abstracts may be up to 1,200 words or two pages. Complete
papers may also be submitted. All submitters will be notified via email
by *June 26, 2017*. Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be asked
to confirm their conference registration and attendance by *July 18,

competition. Two winning papers will each receive up to $1,000 in travel

Papers should be NO longer than 7,500 words including the abstract,
text, references, figures, and tables. Each table, figure, or photograph
counts as 250 words. Papers should conform to generally accepted
guidelines for academic quality papers. TRB criteria may be used

A paper or written description must accompany any submissions that are
media oriented. Completed submissions are due to *Ms. Mai Le of TRB at

faculty advisor and the entrant attesting that the paper satisfies the

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) serves
an eight county region in three states. The agency is the area’s
Metropolitan Planning Organization, and fosters collaboration between
governments, civic organizations, and the business community on diverse
regional transportation, land use, environmental, and economic
development challenges. OKI seeks a self-motivated professional
responsible for demographic research and forecasting. Knowledge of:
Principles of demographics, land use, statistics and US Bureau of Census
programs, including CTPP and ACS data. Skills: Strong database,
spreadsheet, and ARCGIS skills. Qualifications: MS/MA (or equivalent
experience) demography, urban/regional/environmental planning, or
related field. Three years experience in planning related field
involving demographic estimates and projections. Starting salary range
is commensurate with experience; beginning range is $50 - $55k.
