Hi all,
I have not been able to find any disability data at the tract-level,
either from ACS 2009 5-year data or anything else; does anyone know if
disability data is available at the tract-level, and if so, which data
set it would be in?
Thanks,

We also have the same concern in Kansas City, where a Lee's Summit urbanized area was created mainly because a general aviation airport separated it from the Kansas City urbanized area. The city of Lee's Summit extends both north and south of this airport, so the northern part of the city is in one urbanized area while the southern part is in another. The originally proposed 2010 urbanized area criteria indicated the two areas would be recombined, as they had been in 1990. Most people here would agree that recombining the two provides a more accurate description of the areas pattern of urbanization.

Subject: [CTPP] If you are interested in CB Urban Areas delineation
Our MPO policy committee took a position supporting the concept of the multiple urbanized areas within our region being agglomerated and were encouraged by the August 24, 2010 Federal Register notice indicating that the Census 2000 UAs (Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Denton-Lewisville, and McKinney) would potentially be combined. Therefore, we are disappointed and a bit confused by the August 4-5 listserv statements indicating that new criteria may have since been developed. Our policy officials have seen these discussions and are asking us to respond. Can you let us know what is going on with regard to these criteria and perhaps provide the rationale behind keeping the urbanized areas from 2000 (when the other criteria indicate that they should be combined)? Thanks.
We are likewise in the same situation here in Phoenix with the Phoenix-Mesa UA and Avondale UA (created from a split in 2000) being combined. We also provided comment during the public comment period for the Federal Register Notice supporting the agglomeration of the Phoenix-Mesa and Avondale UAs and not keeping the split from 2000.
I have an inquiry in to the Geographic Areas and Criteria branch of the Census Bureau in Washington regarding this issue and am waiting to hear back from them. I will be happy to report back any update that I get from them.
Thanks,
Jami

Early 2012 and Spring XX is census speak. Typically as we get closer
more exact dates begin to come into focus. In the past this used to
frustrate me but now when I hear Spring for example, I assume June 20th
and when things come earlier its a pleasant surprise.

2. TIGER/Line shapefiles with boundaries for these areas will be
available in Spring 2012.
3. 2010 Census data will be released later in the year in the Summary

The October 2012 Date is for the Census data released by the Urban/rural geography. The February 2012 date is for the TIGER/Line shapefiles (geography) to be released. One is DATA the other is the GEOGRAPHY.

Subject: RE: [CTPP] Census Bureau 2010 Urban Areas Shapefile Release
Hello:
I am asking for a clarification and confirmation about the release of the 2010 urban area boundaries.
I previously participated in a discussion on this list serve that the urban area boundaries would be released in October of 2012 and that the urban/rural tabulation would be release in the February of 2012. This was the schedule originally released by the Census bureau at the beginning of the 2010 census process.
As I understand it now, there has been a change. The urban boundaries will now be release in Spring of 2012. The urban boundaries will not be released as originally planned in October of 2012.
This is a significant date for the Lafayette MPO as well as other MPO"s who anticipate changes in their boundaries.
Might you clarify and confirm?
Thanks

As discussed during the last CTPP Oversight Board Quarterly Meeting, the
Census Bureau plans on releasing the 2010 TIGER/Line Shapefiles with the
2010 Census urban area boundaries in the Spring of 2012. This date was
chosen to more closely coincide with the publication of the list of urban
area entities, codes, and population counts in the Federal Register.
Please note that the shapefiles to be released at this date are expected to
depict the urban area boundaries only.

E-Learning Modules
This tool is appropriate for anyone looking for more information on the
Census Transportation Panning Products derived from American Community
Survey data. Please share.
Previous CTPP tabulations have been based on the decennial census, the
American Community Survey (ACS)-based tables represent a significant
shift and necessitates education concerning these changes. Many users
are unfamiliar with details of the new CTPP data product. With the
current CTPP release, it is AASHTO's desire to provide training for
users of this data.
To that end, we have developed a series of brief interactive modules to
address various aspects of the new CTPP data products. Each module
consists of a "Technical" and an "Executive" track, there is an
introductory module that will typically play once, upon accessing the
e-Learning for the first time. This introductory module will explain
the differences between the two tracks and show system navigation. The
following two subject modules are available by clicking the link below.
