[CTPP] PSAP Validation - Downloading Shapefiles

Hi Everyone, The Census Bureau has recommended reviewing the new Census 2020 geographies using TigerWeb or PDFs. [CTPP] 2020 Participant Statistical Areas Program... continued

Hi friends— Some of you have been involved in Census Geog activities. Some of you have not. FYI, this week Census Geog has blasted out announcements of the verification & sign-off phase of PSAP (for Tracts, Block Groups, CDPs, etc. etc.). Many of you will see an email like the one below (scroll down). This went to a long list of governments and stakeholders. This email says: PSAP Verification phase is now begun. Wraps up in April. Contact your “primary participant responsible” if you have issues. Kind of a bewildering email = sure to generate some questions. Things to know: 1. Census Geog’s objective now is simply verification & sign-off, confirming the Tract and BG shapefiles submitted last year. This phase is not an opportunity to bring up new requests. Sorry. 2. In this age of big data, census data are critical to provide context and ensure decisions are made on a foundation of sound representative data that includes at-risk subpopulations. The diversity of stakeholders at the TRB Annual Meeting who can provide insights on integrating census data into their analytical toolkits is an opportunity to make this NCHRP research product more robust and useful to a wide audience. [CTPP] 2010 Demonstration Data Products

This may be of interest to some: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday the Census Bureau released the *2010 Demonstration Data Products* to help data users understand how differential privacy may or may not impact data products they are used to receiving. The products include the 2010 Demonstration Public Law 94-171 (P.L. 94-171) Redistricting Data Summary File and the Demographic and Housing Demonstration File, which is similar to Summary File 1. Documentation and resources related to these products are available on the Census Bureau’s website: https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/2020-census/planni… The Census Bureau is working on an FAQ document to provide additional information about these data.
