Hello Marie If you are not concerned about the overlap you could convert the blocks to centroids then do the spatial join... if you are concerned about the overlap (percentage the block falls into the overlaying polygon) then you could use the intersect command which may assign a block to two adjacent polygons... Below is something I found on the ESRI resources website...it may provide you with the use case that you need. Hi Marie, Here is the trick that will allow you to get all the census blocks within the district boundary. Export the census bock boundary shape file to a point shape file as centroid points. That way, the centroid points will be within the district boundary.
