Ben, There's only one set of maps-- the reference maps that will be released in October. The purpose of those maps is to show the boundaries for each urban area, features, and other census geographic areas in and around the urban area. The March release will be the TIGER/Line shapefile layer containing boundaries for each urban area. People can use those shapefiles to make maps for each urban area, or to map in a GIS. We also will release the list of urbanized areas and urban clusters, along with the total population of each urban area. We also will provide other information about each urban area, such as land area and population density. The March release will provide the information needed to know which areas are new urbanized areas, which areas have exceeded various population thresholds, and other changes in the urban and rural population and land area between 2000 and 2010.
